Lighthouse Homeschool Network Kicks Off School Year 2026-2027
DAVAO CITY – The Lighthouse Homeschool Network (LHN) gathered at Heritage Baptist Church on July 3, 2026, to officially open School Year 2026-2027. Member families came together for the annual General Assembly, united by this year’s purposeful theme: “Called to Serve.”
The afternoon began with a thoughtful reminder of why the community exists. Bro. Eric Melencion led the devotion with an inspiring message titled, “Don’t Leave the Gift in the Box.” Drawing from 1 Peter 4:10, he shared that God gives each of us unique gifts, and it is our responsibility to unpack and use those talents to serve the people around us. His words perfectly set the tone for the rest of the day.
Answering that call to action, LHN introduced the incoming officers and circle leaders who stepped up to guide the community this school year. Alongside the new leadership team, LHN also officially welcomed the newest members of the Board: the Fuentes family (Troy and Toni) and the Puerto family (Leo and Shirley), who are bringing their vision and dedication to the community.
The assembly also highlighted the LHN Circles where students and even parents can explore creative interests like music, arts, public speaking, writing and a lot more. Each Circle is headed by dedicated volunteer parents who generously share their time and skills with the children.
The event also welcomed 20 new families. To help them find their footing, an interactive activity called the LHN Trail Guide was introduced, which walked everyone through LHN’s history, its core commitment to community, and the different circles available for both students and parents. This session transitioned smoothly into a short meet-and-greet between families and their chosen Circle leaders, giving everyone a chance to connect, pitch in, and get involved right away.
The Chairman of the Board, Bro. Larrie Bernd Rocha, gave the closing remarks. Echoing the devotional message, he reminded the parents that LHN thrives on shared effort. He challenged every family to look for meaningful ways to get involved, stressing that the community succeeds only when its members step up, participate in activities, and faithfully serve one another.
Bro. Reginald Cua wrapped up the event by leading the commissioning of the incoming officers and Circle leaders. Through a heartfelt closing prayer, he officially dedicated School Year 2026-2027 and the community’s collective efforts to the Lord.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the energy in the room reflected a community ready for the months ahead. With newly discovered Circles and a shared vision, the families of LHN are stepping into the new school year not just to learn, but to build a vibrant community together.
