LHN Heroes of Faith and United Nations Day 2025: Deep Roots, Bold Faith
Honoring God in Every Celebration
Held on October 31, 2025, at the Victor’s Subdivision Basketball Court, the United Nations x Heroes of Faith event reminded our community of the call to honor God in every season by celebrating faith, obedience, and Christ-centered values.
One of the wisdoms God has placed in us as parents is the conviction to honor Him in all things—even in times of celebration. While Halloween has become a popular tradition in the world, we are reminded that not everything celebrated by the world brings honor to God. This can be a challenging truth for our learners, especially when friends and relatives are enjoying Halloween festivities and treats.
Yet, our mandate from God is clear: we are called to guide the next generation in the ways of the Lord. As Scripture reminds us,
“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
In light of this calling, our community has chosen to celebrate Heroes of Faith each year.
The Heroes of Faith are the men and women in Scripture who stood firm and persevered in their faith until the end. Through this activity, our learners dress up as their chosen Bible characters and share their stories with the community—celebrating courage, obedience, and faithfulness to God.
This celebration may not mirror the kind of “fun” the world promotes, but just like the real heroes of faith, following God is not always about pleasure. It is about delighting Him through obedience and choosing what honors Him, even when it goes against what is popular.
Our desire is to teach the next generation to love and fear God—not only in words, but through action. For as Scripture reminds us,
“Faith without works is dead.” — James 2:26
