Lighthouse Homeschool Network FAQs
Homeschooling can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when families are starting out or looking for a community to journey with. Over the years, Lighthouse Homeschool Network has grown from a small gathering of homeschooling families into a Christ-centered community built on faith, fellowship, learning, encouragement, and servant-hearted relationships.
Whether you are simply exploring homeschooling, curious about LHN, or prayerfully considering becoming part of the community, we hope these frequently asked questions help you better understand who we are, what we value, and how we seek to support families as they grow together in faith, learning, and life.
Is LHN a Homeschool Provider or a School?
No. Lighthouse Homeschool Network is not a homeschool provider, an accredited school, a tutorial center, or an educational institution.
LHN is a Christ-centered homeschool community and support organization composed of homeschooling families from various homeschool providers, including independent homeschoolers.
LHN exists to encourage and support families through fellowship, devotionals, activities, shared learning opportunities, volunteerism, and community life. Parents remain the primary educators and decision-makers for their children’s education.
Are parents involved in LHN activities?
Yes. Parents are at the heart of the Lighthouse Homeschool Network community and resources. LHN exists and continues to grow through the volunteerism, participation, and servant-hearted leadership of its member families, especially parents.
Parents actively help organize activities, lead circles, mentor students, coordinate events, support community initiatives, and serve one another using their gifts, skills, and time.
LHN believes that homeschooling flourishes best when families not only learn together, but also grow, serve, and build community together.
Who can join LHN?
LHN is open to homeschooling Christian families who are endorsed by an LHN Family member and subscribe without reservation to the organization’s LHN Statement of Faith.
Membership is family-based and subject to review and approval by the LHN Board.
How Can I Join LHN?
Families interested are encouraged to first get to know the LHN community and prayerfully consider whether it is a good fit for their family.
Because LHN is a relationship-based, Christ-centered homeschool community, membership involves a guided process designed to promote unity, alignment, and meaningful community life.
The membership process includes:
- Getting endorsed by a current LHN family
- Attending the official LHN Orientation
- Affirming, without any reservation from parents or guardians, the LHN Statement of Faith
- Receiving an approval message with a link to the LHN New Members Registration form
- Submitting the registration form and all requirements
- Final membership review and approval by the LHN Board
Families are encouraged to take time to understand the mission, values, commitments, and community culture of LHN before applying for membership.
Is membership renewed every year?
Yes. Membership is reviewed and renewed annually. Continued membership considers factors such as alignment with the Statement of Faith, participation, conduct, and support for the mission and values of LHN.
Why does LHN use an endorsement-based membership process?
Lighthouse Homeschool Network is a relationship-based and Christ-centered homeschool community built on shared faith, trust, unity, and mutual encouragement.
The endorsement process helps ensure that families who join understand and support LHN’s mission, values, culture, leadership, and community life before becoming members.
Once a family is approved, the endorsing family also becomes their sponsor within the community — helping guide, encourage, and support the new family as they adjust to both homeschooling and community life in LHN.
Does LHN require agreement with a Statement of Faith?
Yes. Since LHN is a Christian organization, membership requires the affirmation of the LHN Statement of Faith without any reservation. This helps preserve unity in beliefs, leadership, teaching, and community life.
What homeschool providers are represented in LHN?
LHN families come from various homeschool providers, including independent homeschoolers and families enrolled in different local and international programs.
